Cookie policy

We set two cookies, and a third only while you are signing in. Every one of them is needed to sign you in or to remember your language, so there is nothing here to opt out of.

1.What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a website puts on your device. Cookies make a site work, and they tell the site things about your visit.

A cookie is either persistent — it stays until it expires or you delete it — or a session cookie, which goes when you close the browser. It is first-party if the site you are on set it, and third-party if another domain did.

2.What we do about them

We use only strictly necessary cookies. There are no analytics cookies, no advertising or targeting cookies, no social tracking, and no third-party marketing cookies of any kind.

That is why there is no consent banner on this site. Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from the consent requirement under the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC as amended by 2009/136/EC). If that ever changes, section 8 says what we will do.

4.Local storage

We keep nothing in your browser's local storage, and nothing in session storage. Your sign-in session lives in the sb-*-auth-token cookie in section 3, not on this side of the browser.

You can check this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, go to Application and then Local storage, and the entry for this site is empty.

5.Cookies other companies set

Our payment processor may set cookies during checkout to prevent fraud and keep the payment secure. They are set on its own domain, not ours, and governed by its own privacy policy, which it shows you at checkout. We cannot control them.

If you sign in with Google, Google may set cookies, governed by Google's privacy policy (opens in a new tab).

6.Managing cookies yourself

Your browser can show you every cookie stored and let you:

  • see what is stored and delete cookies one at a time
  • block third-party cookies
  • block cookies from particular sites
  • block all cookies
  • delete everything when you close the browser

Because every cookie we set is strictly necessary, blocking them means you cannot sign in. The service does not work without an authentication cookie.

Instructions for the common browsers:

7.Do Not Track

We run no tracking cookies and no analytics, so we honour Do Not Track by construction. Your browsing here is not tracked whatever that setting says.

8.If this changes

If we ever introduce a cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will update this policy, put a consent mechanism in place, and ask before setting it.
